I would be scared too with a surgery like that. I've only had two very minor surgeries and both allowed me to start exercising again within a few weeks, but I will say that after my knee surgery, my other knee started hurting right before and after I got it. And when I had my foot surgery, a few weeks before my foot stopped hurting completely. It's tough to know what is actually going on with your body but I'd say the progress you have made is SO impressive and you should look at how far you've come. There will be plenty of time to log more miles on the bike or on the roads, but being safe now will probably help you in the long run. I could be totally off base at the same time though, because like I said, I've never experienced a major surgery. I hope it all works out for you!

I can't sit here and tell you that when I had a far less severe injury I had phatom pains for a few months...while that is true...even a stress fracture does not relate to your surgery. It's good to be extremely aware of your body and I would honestly say if it doesn't get any worse keep doing what you are doing.

I think those feelings are completely normal and to be expected! When people get injuries they're often hyper-aware of their body and what they're feeling because they're scared of not recovering or getting re-injured. Take it easy and do what feels right! No need to push yourself. :)

I can see why you would be terrified. it is a big surgery you went through and a tough recovery process. i know my injury was far less severe but still anytime I felt pain afterwards i freaked the f out. I have to say though, i did the same as you. I was super conservative and even after being cleared to run I didn't for a good three months. when I started I started slow and small. Hey, I honestly credit that time to how pain and injury free I can run today so I think you are doing the right thing. it can't be easy being patient but I hope you can continue to keep a positive mindset which I think you have.

We should absolutely do a Whole30 together!! I'm thinking of starting either the last week of May or first week of June.....I definitely tend to feel bloated/in a funk when I eat too much processed stuff so this actually sounds awesome! And Greek is actually really great to watch as a mindless show when you're burnt out from working, studying, class etc, perfect for summer school!

haha I know I'm kinda giving the stank eye to myself too :-P. I guess I already can't tolerate grains so the hard part will be beans, soy products, dairy...and alcohol umm I love beer and wine lol. But at the very least, it's only 30 days out of my whole life and if I feel like crap then I will most definitely not continue!

Oh and Gossip Girl! You're on season 5 right?? Oh man try and see if you can get season 6 on Hulu or iTunes or ABC.com....the series finale is SO PERFECT but before that happens everyone goes totally nuts lol
